Placeholder text lets designers judge layout without being distracted by meaning, which is why lorem ipsum has survived since the 1500s. Choose how much you need and in what unit, and optionally get it wrapped in paragraph tags ready to paste into a template.
It is scrambled Latin from Cicero’s "De finibus bonorum et malorum", written in 45 BC. A printer garbled a passage into specimen text in the 1500s and the mangled version stuck.
Because stakeholders read real copy and critique the words instead of the layout. Placeholder text keeps a design review focused on hierarchy, spacing, and rhythm.
Only if it ships. Placeholder text left on a live page is a real quality signal problem and looks unfinished to visitors. Search for "lorem" before every launch.
Reasonably. Latin word lengths sit close enough to English that line breaks and text blocks look natural, which is exactly why it beats repeated nonsense strings.
