Counting days across month boundaries by hand is exactly the kind of task people get wrong, because months are uneven and February moves. Pick two dates and this calculator reports the gap in days, weeks, months and years, and can also count only working days.

How to use it

1. Choose the start date.
2. Choose the end date — it can be before the start date, and the result is reported as negative.
3. Read the total in days, and the same span broken into years, months, and days.
4. Switch on "weekdays only" to exclude Saturdays and Sundays.

Frequently asked questions

Is the end date included in the count?

No. The result is the number of nights between the two dates, which is the standard interpretation. If you need inclusive counting — as for a holiday booking — add one day.

How are months counted when they have different lengths?

Calendar months are counted whole, then the remainder is expressed in days. From 31 January to 1 March is one month and one day, not 29 days converted to a fraction.

Does the weekday count exclude public holidays?

No. It removes Saturdays and Sundays only, because public holidays differ by country and region. Subtract your local holidays manually.

Why does the day count sometimes seem one off?

Almost always a daylight-saving boundary or an inclusive-versus-exclusive assumption. The tool normalises to midnight local time so DST shifts do not distort whole-day counts.
